Challenge
Michelmores approached Appeal Digital with three main challenges:
- Template limitations: Their existing site was built on rigid templates, making it difficult to evolve and frustratingly slow to roll out changes.
- Content management: With a huge website, containing large volumes of pages and insights, any restructure or migration had to be handled with extreme care to preserve visibility, rankings and continuity for internal teams.
- User experience: The insights area in particular was dated, difficult to navigate and underperforming in terms of usability.
Solution
Appeal Digital carried out a comprehensive review of the site and rebuilt core areas using Gutenberg, WordPress’ flexible block-based editing framework. This gave Michelmores the freedom to create, adapt and expand pages quickly without needing a developer. This in turn helped them build pages that are persona focused, due to the many different audiences to firm needs to market to.
We also restructured and modernised their insights area, delivering an updated UI with usability improvements that make it easier for users to search, filter and access content. Accessibility best practices were implemented throughout to ensure inclusivity and compliance.
